Southern Cooking to Thrill Your Family and Friends
I received this cookbook as a wedding shower present. With the exception of the bath towels I also received, it is the shower present I have used the most in almost thirteen years of marriage.

While some of the recipes are traditional Southern cooking such as fried chicken and biscuits, that is by no means the extent of Cotton Country Cooking. The recipes reflect the diversity of cultures that make up America, and in paricular, the South. There is everything from Creole to German cuisine in Cotton Country Cooking. My personal favorites include Sweet and Sour Meatloaf, Banana Nut Bread, and Boiled Custard.

Are you tired of cooking the same thing over and over for your guests? Cotton Country Cooking is an excellent resource for when you entertain. If cooking is not what you enjoy, there are several easy and foolproof recipes for those times when you just can't get out of having to make something.

In this age of convenience and fast foods, why not treat yourself and your family and friends? Try the recipes in Cotton Country Cooking! They will taste the love.

One of the Best Regional Cookbooks Ever
Recipes are totally reliable and there's an amazing variety. All were tested before being accepted for inclusion. Written before concerns about sugar and fat really hit but baked goods recipes can be easily adjusted by reducing sugar or fat by one quarter to one third. Have been using this cookbook for more than twenty years and was delighted to find it still available.

This cookbook will be the prize in your WILL.
I have bought and given this book away so many times that I have lost count. I lived in the south for only a few short years and came to love the people and their great foods. So when I moved west, I insisted on this book riding in the car with me. Every recipe in it can be trusted to be the hit of whatever the occasion might be. I don't plan any special meal without it.

Haunted Decatur Revisited: Ghostly Tales from the Haunted Heart of Illinois
Published in Paperback by Whitechapel Productions (May, 2000)
Authors: Troy Taylor and Amy Taylor

Still Haunted in Decatur
Troy's revision of "Haunted Decatur" is great. As a resident of Decatur, I enjoy Troy's works. As an English teacher, I would like to see more careful editing, but that does not deter from the importance of his work. As a long-time "ghost hunter" and student of the paranormal, I have found Troy's works helpful and informative, as well as right-down scary. It is helpful to visit the sites he discusses and see first-hand the locations that are described. Having seen the sites he describes in many of his books, I can say that his descriptions are "on the money." I would love to co-author a book with him some day!

Haunted Decatur Revisted
I bought this book for my husband because he grew up around that area and because of Voorhies Castle. We both read it, this book is wonderful. Reading any kind of books having to do with the towns you grew up in and the histories are interesting. I plan on buying other books of Troy Taylors.

Excellent Book!!!
This is an excellent book. Decatur, IL native Troy Taylor wrote an entire Haunted Decatur Series, then went back and revamped the series, adding more info. on the places in it, as well as adding new locations. Who better to write about the History and Hauntings of this historic IL town than one of it's own.

Growing Up Cuban in Decatur, Georgia

Love, Laughs and Tears
Carman Agra Deedy is outstanding. My granddaughters can't get enough of this tape. We all love to listen as we travel in the car. I've about worn it out.I've been a fan of hers since she first published agatha's Featherbed and used that book all over the country doing teacher workshops.
As the principal of an elementary school in SC, I'd loved to find out how to get a hold of Mrs. Agra Deedy to cotract for her to come to my school.

Growing Up Cuban in Decatur GA
This book on tape was the best one that I have ever listened to! The content, stories of the author's childhood, were emotionally captivating. There are areas that every single person can relate to - funny, sad, inspiring and enlightening. Ms Deedy's tales brought me back to my childhood (growing up in a large Italian family in a small town).

This is a great car tape, because the stories are all individual and relatively brief, making it easy to 'pop' the tape in for great entertainment!

Three Strikes: Labor's Heartland Losses and What They Mean for Working Americans
Published in Hardcover by Guilford Press (18 June, 2001)
Author: Stephen Franklin
Average review score:

I survived this mess.
In 1991 I had 24 years in at Caterpillar. If I would have had any way to forsee the future when I was young, I never would have applied for a job with Caterpillar. Franklin did a lot of research for his book, and for the most part I believe it is accurate. But neither Franklin nor anyone else could possibly document the pain, the frustration, the hopelessness, the fear, and the uncertainty that thousands of us suffered at he hands of these greedy bastards. I hope I live to see labors' return to power.

Challenge for this generation
This book tells a depressingly familiar tale of everyday people dedicating their lives and souls to their work, only to find out themselves turned out with nothing to show for it. Where are the John L. Lewises and Walter Reuthers of this generation?

Solid Reporting & Research
This is a well researched and documented book. I know, or have met, a lot of the players in this book and it provided me with a lot of information I was not aware of. Shows the human side of many lives.

Bainbridge, Marion, and Decatur: (Not Revolutionary or 1812 War Heroes)/"the Calm of the Late Fifties / Ear Ly Sixties
Published in Hardcover by Vantage Press (June, 1999)
Author: Fred C. Feddeck

Female perspective of Marion, Bainbridge and Decatur
As a product of the Marion, Bainbridge and Decatur environment in the 1950's and 60's I thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing with Freddie Feddeck ( my neighbor) about growing up in the Bronx. Although a few years younger, (I was in Jimmy Feddeck's graduating class from O.L.M.) I found his book a walk down memory lane. My only regret after reading his delightful account was that I was not mentioned!! I am amazed at the clarity of his memory for so many childhood events both at O.L.M. and Fordham prep. Anyone living in the Fordham Road area during the 50's or 60's will be delighted to see their childhood through the eyes of Fred Feddeck! Almost as much fun as ordering the "Kitchen Sink" at Jahn's on Kingsbridge Rd.!!

Bainbridge, Marion, and Decatur
As a product of the Bronx although just a few years behind the author, I found this book to be an extremely accurate reflection on our social structure and values. Thanks to the author for mentioning some friends, schools and establishments we all remember fondly. Thanks also for reminding us of the values we still cherish and wish for our children. You grow and spread your wings but you truly never leave the Bronx, Thank God!

Great and relaxing reading!

MEMORIES OF THE BRONX AND OLM IN THE 50'S
I to am an OLM alumni class of 1958. I rember Fred Feddeck from school and Marion Avenue, I lived on Marion and 188th Street. Reading Fred's book has brought back so many fond memories of the of the Bronx in those days. I rember Father O'Leary and the nuns, stick ball, curb ball the ball games behind PS85. I recognize many of the names mentioned in the book. What a great book it really brings back memories of the innocent days at OLM and the simple games we played. Congratulations on a wonderful book, hope Fred has another in the works.
